Legacy Series | Chapter Three

The Yardley Heritage: Where Two Legacies Became

One

Every family has a story.

Some stories begin with a single moment.

Others are built over generations.

For Original Carter Cattle, our story is rooted in two families whose values were remarkably alike long

before their names were ever joined together.

While the Carter family's story began with Grandpa Dean and five bottle-fed Holstein calves, another

ranching family was building a legacy just a few miles away—one that would one day become an essential

part of our own.

That family was the Yardleys.

For generations, the Yardley family helped shape the cattle industry in Beaver County, Utah. Working

alongside fathers, brothers, sons, and daughters, they earned a reputation not only for raising exceptional

cattle but for living lives marked by integrity, humility, and hard work. Their ranch wasn't simply where they

made a living—it was where character was built, where lessons were passed from one generation to the

next, and where faith, family, and stewardship became a way of life.

Their success was never measured by the size of a herd.

It was measured by the reputation they earned.

A reputation built one handshake, one season, and one generation at a time.

A Heritage Built on Sacrifice

Every lasting legacy is built through sacrifice.

The Yardley family understood that better than most.

While serving his country in the United States Marines, Grandpa Yardley never stopped thinking about the

future of the family ranch. Instead of spending his military earnings on himself, he faithfully sent his pay

home so the family could continue purchasing land.

1That land represented far more than property.

It represented hope.

It represented opportunity.

It represented a future that hadn't yet been written.

Looking back today, those sacrifices helped preserve a ranching heritage that continues to influence our

family generations later.

It's a reminder that the greatest investments aren't always measured in dollars.

Sometimes they're measured in what we're willing to give so those who come after us can have something

greater.

A Reputation That Spoke for Itself

Long before the Carter and Yardley families officially became one, there was already a deep respect

between them.

When Grandpa Dean Carter returned to Minersville and transitioned from dairy cattle to raising beef, he

was committed to improving the quality of his herd. Like many respected cattlemen, he knew exactly where

to turn.

He sought out superior bulls from Gib Yardley, whose cattle had earned a reputation for outstanding

genetics and quality throughout Southern Utah.

That decision wasn't simply about improving cattle.

It reflected the respect one ranching family had for another.

Although neither family could have known it at the time, that shared commitment to raising exceptional

cattle was quietly laying the foundation for something much bigger.

When Two Legacies Became One

Sometimes the most meaningful chapters of a family's story are the ones no one could have planned.

For generations, the Carter and Yardley families walked similar paths.

Both believed that hard work wasn't optional.

Both believed a person's word mattered.

2Both believed caring for the land meant caring for future generations.

Both believed family always came first.

Then came the day that changed both family histories forever.

When Rodney Carter and LueAnn Yardley were married, it wasn't simply the union of two people.

It was the joining of two ranching legacies.

Two families.

Two histories.

One shared purpose.

The Carter family's determination and vision blended with the Yardley family's deep heritage of stewardship

and exceptional cattlemanship.

Together, they didn't leave their family histories behind.

They honored them.

They built upon them.

And from that foundation, Original Carter Cattle continued to grow.

Today, every decision we make reflects both sides of our family.

The determination to keep moving forward.

The responsibility to care for the land.

The commitment to raising quality cattle.

The belief that integrity matters more than convenience.

Those values weren't created overnight.

They've been passed from grandparents to parents, from parents to children, for generations.

A Legacy Worth Passing On

When we look through old family photographs, we don't simply see cattle, trucks, hay fields, or horses.

3We see the people who quietly built the lives we enjoy today.

We see early mornings before the sun came up.

Long days putting up hay.

Children learning responsibility long before they understood the importance of those lessons.

Parents and grandparents leading not with speeches, but with quiet example.

At the time, those moments probably felt ordinary.

Today, they've become some of our family's most treasured memories.

Now, as the sixth generation begins learning those same lessons—working with their show steers, caring

for cattle, helping during calving season, and spending long summer days on the ranch—we're reminded

that legacy isn't something you simply inherit.

It's something you choose to live every day.

Our children aren't only carrying the Carter legacy forward.

They're carrying the Yardley legacy as well.

That may be one of the greatest blessings our family has ever received.

The Story Behind the Beef

When families choose Original Carter Cattle, they're receiving far more than premium, family-raised beef.

They're supporting generations of ranching families who believed that doing things the right way still

matters.

Every steak.

Every roast.

Every brisket.

Every package of ground beef.

Represents generations of sacrifice, stewardship, and faith.

It represents two families who never imagined their separate stories would one day become one.

4Before there was Original Carter Cattle, there were two families whose stories were quietly preparing to

become one.

That is the story behind the beef.

That is the legacy we're honored to continue.
